The study found an average of 25 children aged three or younger were held daily between January 2025 and March 2026, a figure ten times higher than during the previous 12 months under Joe Biden. Between Trump’s second inauguration and March 2026, ICE held at least 175 babies and toddlers for longer than a court-mandated 20-day limit, a violation not observed during the final year of the Joe Biden administration. Medical experts, including Marsha Griffin, co-founder of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Council on Immigrant Child and Family Health, stated that detention is 'probably the most harmful time of their lives' for infants and toddlers.
