Kids aged 13 to 15 will only be able to create, save, and post Stories and Spotlight videos “on a dedicated profile that is visible only to their mutually accepted friends,” Snap announced on Wednesday. These more private profiles also won’t show metrics like favorite counts. [Image: https://platform.theverge.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/06/private-snapchat.png?quality=90&strip=all]

Kids aged 13 to 15 will only be able to create, save, and post Stories and Spotlight videos “on a dedicated profile that is visible only to their mutually accepted friends,” Snap…

Younger Snapchatters will see this setting change.

Snapchat is restricting under-16s to friends-only Stories and Spotlight, with no favourite counts, as lawsuits and regulators push platforms to protect minors.

Users under 16 years old will get a separate profile to show Stories and Spotlight posts to friends that they follow back.

Snapchat now restricts users aged 13 to 15 from sharing Spotlight posts publicly, allowing them to share only with mutual friends to enhance privacy and prevent doxxing risks.
