Akram had been previously charged with committing a terrorist offense, 15 counts of murder, 40 counts of attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent, and other criminal acts.

Akram's defence lawyer Leonie Gittani told a Sydney court on Wednesday that paperwork for 19 additional charges had been filed.

Naveed Akram was already facing 59 charges after the shooting at a Jewish festival at Bondi Beach last December.
