Actress and writer Dame Meera Syal highlighted the importance of the King's continued patronage, especially following recent unrest over the murder of Henry Nowak by a Sikh man. Dame Meera stated that the King's enduring support for the Trust, which he co-founded in 2007, is considered "very special" given his increased duties as monarch. The British Asian Trust, co-founded by Charles as Prince of Wales, runs programmes across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, focusing on mental health, education, child protection and conservation. Lord Jitesh Gadhia, the Trust's chairman, noted that the organisation has positively impacted 18.8 million people across South Asia in its 19 years.
