US forces carried out "proportional" strikes against Iran on Tuesday in response to the Islamic Republic shooting down an Apache attack helicopter the day before, the US military said.

In a statement posted to social media, U.S. Central Command said the strikes would be “a proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression.”
