Family ‘deeply concerned’ for Gaza doctor’s health after transfer to solitary confinement

DUBAI: The family of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya have raised concerns over his health condition following his transfer to solitary confinement in Nafha Prison. The move came after his lawyer and defense team filed for an appeal to the Israeli Supreme Court over his continued detention without formal charges for the past 17 months, his eldest son Elias Abu Safiya confirmed. “Instead of seeing an improvement in his detention conditions or any progress toward justice, we were shocked by his transfer to solitary confinement,” Elias told Arab News from Kazakhstan.
