A new pill developed by the British pharma firm AstraZeneca appears to help people lose a similar amount of weight to other GLP-1 oral drugs, trial results showed Monday.

AstraZeneca’s GLP-1 pill showed promise in mid-stage obesity and diabetes studies, but it may still be too early to determine how it stacks up against other oral treatments.

AstraZeneca's oral GLP-1 elecoglipron cut weight up to 10.5% in Phase 2, as AZ launches multiple Phase 3 trials targeting a $5B obesity franchise.
