Last week, the Union Cabinet approved a Rs 10,000-crore price stabilisation fund for aviation turbine fuel, fixing a static price of Rs 115/litre for both domestic and international flights. The government said the move will help reduce airfare volatility.

The money will be used to compensate state refiners for heavy losses from selling fuel in the price-capped domestic market.
