They were defeated by top seeds and defending champions Marcel Granollers of Spain and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina, with a score of 6-4, 6-2. Despite the loss, Patten and Heliovaara will be crowned joint world No 1 for the first time in Monday's updated rankings. The second seeds had not dropped a set en route to the final, having previously won Wimbledon in 2024 and the Australian Open last season. Patten attributed their performance to being 'a little bit off' and the slow clay courts, which favoured their opponents.
