‘Sanctions will boomerang’: Putin slams Western pressure on India, backs PM Modi at SPIEF

Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Russian President Vladimir Putin said India and Russia share a long-standing defence and technical partnership built on mutual trust and joint development. He stated that India acts as a sovereign country, is free to choose its partners, and bases its decisions on national interests while continuing cooperation with Russia in defence and technology. “India is a sovereign country and it is free to choose those products that they consider to be most up-to-date and most applicable for them and offering the best price-quality ratio.
