South Africa may soon face higher export costs as the US Trade Representative targets the nation in a significant trade action over forced labour concerns

The move comes months after Washington launched investigations into 60 economies, including China, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and the Philippines.

For countries, including Pakistan, that have 'imposed partial regime with effect of preventing importation of certain forced labour goods', USTR proposes an additional 10% tariff.
