WASHINGTON/TEHRAN - US forces carried out "self-defense" strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island in response to "attempted attacks by Iran across the Middle East" on Tuesday, US Central Command said.

According to CENTCOM, the strikes came in response to Iran’s downing of a US MQ-1 drone

Kuwait's military separately said its air defences had intercepted "hostile missile and drone attacks", as air raid sirens howled across the country.

CENTCOM said the operations were in response to Iran launching ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain, which were intercepted.
