USTR has proposed a 10% duty rate for economies that have adopted a full or partial prohibition on forced labor trade, and 12.5% for all other economies.

The trade agency said it would impose additional duties of 12.5 percent on the remaining 45 countries that it investigated.

The proposed tariffs range from 10 per cent to 12.5pc, according to a government filing, and they will undergo a public comment period before a final decision is made.

The United States on Tuesday announced the proposal of a fresh slew of additional tariffs of 10 per cent and an additional duty of 12.5 per cent on key global economies

The move comes months after Washington launched investigations into 60 economies, including China, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and the Philippines.
