St Andrew event promoter fined, ordered to apologise after offering cop $10,000 bribe

A St Andrew event promoter was today fined a total of $110,000 in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court after pleading guilty to attempting to bribe police officers who turned up to shut down a party in Bowden Hill, Stony Hill, that was being held without authorisation.Ian Parkes was fined $100,000 or 30 days’ imprisonment for bribery and an additional $10,000 or 30 days’ imprisonment in connection with the illegal event.As part of the proceedings, the presiding parish judge instructed Parkes to apologise to the police officer involved.
