Authorities have uncovered an underground tunnel running beneath the US-Mexico border, hidden below a fake convenience store in San Diego. Video shows the vast 2,000ft tunnel, which was allegedly used to smuggle drugs and weapons. The passage was equipped with lighting, ventilation systems, and a rail system, federal officials said. US agents seized $45M worth of cocaine during the investigation which uncovered the tunnel, as well as ammunition, suspected methamphetamine and marijuana, cell phones and various documents. Four suspects have been arrested and charged with distribution of a controlled substance. “For these defendants, it wasn't a light at the end of the tunnel. It was lights and sirens,” US Attorney Adam Gordon said in a statement.
