A restaurant has shared footage of a "dine and dash" couple, who they say left without paying after ordering a large amount of food and drinks, including steaks and shots. The Halfway House Restaurant in Brentwood, Essex, which describes itself as a "small family-run" establishment, said the couple ran up a bill of £231.30 on 16 May. CCTV footage shows the pair moving tables to one situated nearer the back door, which general manager Deanne Perkins said led her to believe the incident was “premeditated”. After enjoying a three-course meal, the couple then fled the scene. The restaurant later confirmed that “thanks to the power of social media”, the woman has since returned to pay her share of the bill.

The couple, who visited TheHalfway House restaurant in Brentwood, Essex, on May 16, racked up a £231.30 bill then ran away across the car park without paying.
