King Li King-chuen, the physician-scientist who built the U.S.'s first engineering-based medical school, has taken charge of Hong Kong's newest one, as the city stakes more than HK$7 billion (US$890 million) on training a generation of technology-driven doctors.

King Li, dean emeritus of Carle Illinois College of Medicine, says he is honoured to take up the role and that returning to Hong Kong is deeply meaningful to him.
