The increase in tourism is attributed to the island featuring in a BBC Scotland interior design programme, Banjo and Ro's Grand Island Hotel. With only 16 residents, the island's small community and businesses are struggling to cope with the increased footfall. The on-demand foot passenger ferry connecting Ulva to Mull will not operate on Sundays during June, July, and August. Exceptions will be made for visitors with pre-booked accommodation on the island, who will still be assisted across from Mull.
