The Trump administration unveiled a new rule Monday adding work requirements to Medicaid eligibility, attracting condemnation from patient group.

A nonpartisan policy group estimates the work requirements are expected to cause 5 million people to lose coverage by 2034, largely because of administrative hurdles.

States are racing to implement the new requirements by the start of next year.
