Anti-draft Haredi protesters brought rail traffic in central Israel to a halt, attempted to storm the home of a senior police commander and blocked major roads across the country, as Haredi municipal leaders declared the police 'an enemy' and suspended cooperation.

Protests are expected in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Beit Shemesh, Safed and Nof HaGalil after arrests of draft dodgers, days after road blockages and clashes with police.

Jerusalem District Police and Border Guard soldiers are on scene to disperse the riot, with no injuries yet reported.

According to Democrats Party head Yair Golan, the riot was a "practical translation" of the contentious haredi draft law.

Additionally, some protesters had begun rioting outside the home of the commander of the National Traffic Police, N12 News reported.
