Organizers Palm Springs Pride said more than 1,000 people dressed as the Hollywood legend on Saturday (30 May). The previous Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Monroe is 254, achieved by The Marilyn Jetty Swim Team in Brighton, Australia, in 2020. Participants paid a $75 registration fee to the organizers, and in return received a white dress, a platinum-blonde wig, sunglasses, and a martini glass.
