Assam govt suspends distribution of ration items for two months due to interim budget

Assam has temporarily halted the distribution of subsidized pulses, sugar, and salt under its public distribution system for two months, effective June. This suspension is due to the ongoing vote-on-account budget following recent assembly elections. The scheme is expected to resume in August after the new government presents its full budget.
