LONDON: Israeli forces set up temporary checkpoints where they stopped and searched residents before withdrawing from the cities of Quneitra and Daraa in southern Syria on Sunday. Two Israeli military vehicles advanced along the road linking the village of Saida Al-Golan and Quneitra, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported. A separate Israeli force of 150 soldiers withdrew on Sunday from the eastern entrance of the village of Maariya in Daraa after establishing a temporary checkpoint, searching residents’ vehicles and minibuses in the area.
