Manipur violence inquiry panel visits relief camps, meets CM during three-day state tour

A Commission of Inquiry is visiting Manipur to investigate the ethnic violence that erupted in May 2023. The commission met the Chief Minister and visited relief camps. The violence has claimed over 260 lives and displaced more than 60,000 people. It began after a protest march against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe status.
