All five of the people who died were in vehicles hit by the bus, and 44 people were taken to hospitals, including three in critical condition.

Five people were killed and 34 were injured in a massive crash between a bus and six vehicles on Interstate 95 in Virginia early Friday morning.

The five deaths came in vehicles that were struck by the bus when it did not slow down for traffic.

The crash happened 2:35 a.m. on I-95 South near the Quantico exit and the 146 mile-marker in Stafford County, Virginia.

Authorities said a bus hit six other vehicles early the morning of May 29 on Interstate 95.
