IBM has signed Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan and Bank of America onto its open-source cybersecurity effort called Project Lightwell.

IBM is investing $5 billion and deploying more than 20,000 engineers to help secure open source software.

The initiative, called Project Lightwell, seeks to create a "clearinghouse" for open source security, establishing a model for managing risks across the software supply chain.
