The series is a collaboration between Fremantle and Archery Pictures, the production company from Bafta-nominated producer Kris Thykier, while the writers will be Chris Cornwell and Oliver Lansley. In the show, Moriarty is a Durham University professor of criminal psychology who secretly masterminds sophisticated crimes across northern England. He is forced to join the police as a consultant, partnering with Detective Imogen Burrows, to dismantle a rival criminal empire while concealing his true identity.
