Why Railways had to pay 10 times the ticket price as compensation to 4 passengers travelling: 'Mental, physical & economic harassment...'

A consumer court in Bihar has held the Indian Railways responsible for failing to provide confirmed reserved berths to passengers after four travellers were allegedly forced to stand throughout their journey. The court ordered the railways to pay compensation for the harassment caused. The passengers, who had booked confirmed tickets on the LTT Patna Express, claimed their seats were occupied by railway staff. Despite raising complaints during the journey, they alleged that no effective action was taken.
