The couple, from Kent, were advised by Tui to apply for an eVisa, which can only be done 30 days before travel, leaving insufficient time to secure an alternative visa after the rejection. The Indian eVisa application process is known for its complexity, requiring extensive personal details and often encountering technical issues, with rejections frequently given without explanation. Despite attempting to claim on travel insurance and seeking assistance from Tui to switch destinations, the couple was unsuccessful, losing the entire cost of their holiday. Tui said that customers are informed about visa requirements through an 'Important Information' box at booking, directing them to official portals for eVisa or regular visa applications.
