KOLKATA: The spate of resignations by Trinamool Congress (TMC) office-bearers rocked the Kolkata Municiple Corporation (KMC) on Wednesday, when Borough XII chairman Sushanta Ghosh resigned and party spokesperson and councillor Arup Chakraborty stepped down from his post of a KMC accounts committee member.

Over 100 municipal councillors have resigned from civic bodies in West Bengal, signaling deepening turmoil within the TMC after its 2026 Assembly election loss.

Following TMC's defeat in the West Bengal assembly elections, over 100 councillors have resigned, and the rest are said to be skipping work. | India News
