Texas Republicans witnessed another major Maga power shift after State Senator Mayes Middleton defeated Congressman Chip Roy in the GOP primary for Texas attorney general. Middleton positioned himself as the strongest pro-Trump conservative in the race, repeatedly attacking Roy for criticizing US President Donald Trump in the past. Chip Roy, one of the most conservative voices in Congress, conceded shortly after the results were announced and congratulated Middleton online.

State Sen. Mayes Middleton finished first in the March primary with 39.1% of the vote, while Roy received 31.6%, sending both to a runoff.

Roy fell to State Sen. Mayes Middleton, who branded himself "MAGA Mayes" and attacked Roy for not backing Trump's stolen election rhetoric.

Middleton, currently a State Senator, emerged victorious after a contentious fight.
