Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton ousted four-term U.S. Senator John Cornyn on Tuesday, riding President Donald Trump's endorsement to a lopsided victory for the Republican Senate nomination.

Paxton faces Democrat James Talarico in the general election.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has defeated four-term Sen. John Cornyn in a massively expensive, drawn-out U.S. Senate primary race.

Cornyn led the March primary with 42% of the vote, narrowly ahead of Paxton’s 40.5%, sending both to a runoff.
