The exceptional late-spring heat is expected to persist for much of the week, with a chance of 'tropical nights' where temperatures do not fall below 20°C in southern England and Wales. Eight locations in southeast England have officially declared a heatwave, and amber heat health alerts have been issued for several regions, warning of significant impacts on health and social care services.
