Former U.S. president Joe Biden sued the U.S. Department of Justice on Tuesday, seeking to bar the release of audio recordings and transcripts of private conversations with his biographer in 2016 and 2017.

Former President Joe Biden is trying to block the Department of Justice from releasing audio used in the special counsel probe that revealed his memory lapses.

The audio recordings of his conversations with the ghostwriter of his 2017 memoir were part of a special counsel probe into his alleged mishandling of classified documents.

In the lawsuit, Biden argued the recordings contain deeply personal discussions that should remain private.
