Thai rescuers join effort to free seven people trapped in Laos cave

Seven people have been trapped for five days in a flooded cave in Xaysomboun province, Laos, after landslides blocked the entrance; Thai divers who executed the 2018 Tham Luang rescue have joined the operation. Rescuers reached within 40 metres of the survivors' suspected location before rising sediment forced a retreat, with passages as narrow as 50cm making progress entirely dependent on water pumping conditions.
