The guilty plea from former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell on Monday sent shockwaves through Scottish politics and brought an outpouring of reaction from his estranged wife Nicola Sturgeon, the current First Minister and senior figures across Scotland.

Peter Murrell, the estranged husband of former Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon, has pleaded guilty to embezzling over 400,000 pounds from the Scottish National Party.

The 61-year-old, who was SNP chief executive for 22 years, is behind bars after admitting his guilt at the High Court in Edinburgh this morning.
