NASCAR champion Kyle Busch died from severe pneumonia that turned into sepsis, according to a statement provided by his family on Saturday.

Kyle Busch's family earlier Thursday announced he had been hospitalized with a "severe illness."

Kyle Busch won 234 races across NASCAR’s top three series, including 63 in the Cup series. He won the Cup series championship in 2015 and 2019.

The race car driver was hospitalized earlier in the day due to a "severe" illness, according to a statement from his family.
