Retail sales fell in April, as Brits cut back on spending as they feel increasing pressure from the war in Iran.

The Office for National Statistics said the total volume of retail sales, which measures the quantity bought, fell by 1.3% in April.

Retail sales volumes fell 1.3 per cent last month - the steepest drop for almost a year - as demand for fuel and clothing waned.
