Customers have been given five days' notice of the price rises, which will see the cash element increase by up to 33 per cent. For example, a Club World ticket from London Heathrow to New York JFK will now require £499, an increase of approximately £100, in addition to the unchanged Avios amount. This marks the second devaluation in five months, with the airline attributing the changes to rising fuel costs, likely due to the Middle East crisis. While some passengers may be deterred by the increased cash element, many who accumulate Avios through company spending are expected to remain loyal to BA.
