Charles Berry, 66, was linked to the killing of Roberta Walls through forensic genealogy and DNA comparison nearly 40 years after her death

The body of 22-year-old Roberta Walls was found in a field in Virginia Beach on the morning of May 15, 1986.

There were no DNA matches for suspects until grant funding allowed investigators to pursue forensic genealogy testing, police in Virginia said.
