Harvard University faculty have voted to limit the number of A-grades awarded in undergraduate courses. Starting in 2027, a maximum of 20% of students plus four can receive an A. This move aims to combat grade inflation and re-center academic rigor.

Following months of debate, Harvard faculty have voted in favor of a cap on A grades. The policy will go into effect this fall and will be reviewed in three years.

The faculty of arts and sciences also voted to use average percentile rank to determine which students are eligible for internal awards and honors.
