Owned by the leading session musician until his death in 2009, the custom-made instrument was also featured on soundtracks for numerous Sean Connery-era James Bond films, Pink Panther films, and episodes of 1960s The Avengers. The flute, crafted by the renowned British maker Arthur Cooper, is expected to achieve between £10,000 and £20,000 at the sale. Jack Ellory was the principal flute player for notable composers such as Henry Mancini, John Barry, Ron Goodwin, and The Beatles’ producer George Martin, contributing to a wide range of classical and popular recordings. Brian Ellory, Jack's son, inherited the instrument in 2009 and has decided to sell it, expressing hope that it will go to someone who can appreciate its incredible history and continue to make music with it, with the auction taking place on 12 June in Wiltshire.
