Martin Lewis tells households to act now over hidden energy refunds

Martin Lewis has urged homeowners to act now and perform a simple check to see if they are eligible for a possible refund from their energy account. During Tuesday’s (19 May) episode of The Martin Lewis Money Show, Mr Lewis explained that many energy providers are holding too much credit, which has built up through direct debit payments. “ They are sitting on £3bn of our money. Much of it should be in our pockets,” he said, explaining that customers should have some credit on their accounts in May after higher winter energy use. He advised that if customers have more than a month and a half’s worth of credit, they should contact their supplier and ask them why. They should explain why or issue a refund, he continued.
