DUBAI: Art Basel Qatar has announced new details for its upcoming second edition, including the appointment of Iraqi-born curator Wassan Al-Khudhairi as artistic director and the unveiling of the fair’s curatorial theme. Based in New York, Al-Khudhairi is widely recognized for her work across contemporary art institutions and biennials. She previously served as the founding director of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, overseeing its opening in 2010, and is currently a partner at The Curatorial / Office.
