MAGA speaker suggests it was God’s plan for Trump to build a White House ballroom

MAGA speaker Eric Metaxas has made a bold claim that President’s Trump’s White House ballroom is part of a divine plan. Speaking to the ‘Rededicate 250’ prayer event in Washington DC on Sunday, he harkened back to the War of 1812, when British forces burned parts of the White House which, the evangelical author noted to laughs, “did not yet have a ballroom.” He continued, “It’s hard to believe that it would take two centuries for the Lord to raise up a great man to bring that ballroom finally to stand where it needs to stand.” Trump claims his $400m plan to build a ballroom on the site of the now-demolished East Wing would be financed by donations, bit Congressional Republicans are now seeking $1bn in tax-payer money for security.
