Footage released by Northumbria Police shows Billy Stokoe, then 18, leaving the scene after striking Gloria Stephenson, 86, with his e-bike on a pedestrian crossing in Sunderland in May 2025. Additional footage shows Stokoe speaking to police after he handed himself in at a police station. “Is she dead?,” he asks an officer. On Friday (15 May), the 19-year-old was jailed for six years and nine months after he admitted causing death by dangerous driving.
