President Donald Trump says he plans to suspend the federal gas tax "for a period of time" as part of a move to curb high prices at the pump.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Sunday the Trump administration is "open" to suspending the federal gasoline tax as prices surge amid the Iran War.

Average gas prices have soared by more than 50% since the start of the Iran war.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) have pledged to introduce legislation to suspend the federal gas tax.
