New Amazon drone delivery drops packages 12ft into gardens

Amazon has become the first retailer in the UK to launch a drone delivery service in the UK. The MK30 drone has begun delivering packages - which can weigh up to 2.2kg - in under two hours in Darlington, County Durham. The packages - which have so far contained beauty products, batteries, and cables - are dropped from about 12ft in the air into customers’ gardens. The service is currently limited to a 12-mile radius of the Darlington fulfilment centre and there are a maximum of ten flights sent out per hour, though the retailer hopes the service will soon be expanded as the demand for super-fast deliveries increases.
