The budget resolution, which passed 50-48, is a bid to circumvent the Democratic filibuster and fund immigration enforcement agencies and reopen the DHS.

The entire department has been shut down since mid-February.

U.S. Senate Republicans voted on Thursday to advance a $70 billion plan to fund the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol agencies.
