The White House insists Donald Trump was joking about Diet Coke killing cancer cells after an anecdote from Dr Oz went viral. Oz, who is currently serving as the administrator for Medicare and Medicaid, shared an anecdote on First Son Don Jr’s Triggered podcast about Trump excusing his prolific soda intake because, as he reportedly puts it, if it kills grass, it must also kill cancer cells within the body. When asked about these absurd claims at a press conference on Wednesday (April 15), White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said she had heard Trump tell this joke before and suggested the Wall Street Journal reporter who asked needed to get a sense of humor. Trump famously speculated during the Covid pandemic that disinfectants could be used inside the body to treat the disease.
